What We Do

We create opportunities.

APPEND and its partner-NGOs continue to innovate their micro-enterprise development and microfinance programs to uplift the lives of their clients and their families, because they believe that when poverty is reduced the nation benefits. And when most of the communities are made up of ethical, responsible and hardworking micro-entrepreneurs, it places the nation on a solid foundation. These entrepreneurs serve as the backbone of the Philippine economy especially when their number is large enough to impact the scale of small- and medium-scale enterprises.

APPEND has also focused on its mandate in the area of legislation and advocacy work. This mandate relates specifically to strengthening the social and financial opportunities available to the micro-, small, and medium-enterprises, as well as to the other poor, marginalized and disadvantaged sectors of the Filipino society.

We bring hope.

For the past 25 years, God has richly blessed APPEND, which in turn, continues to be a blessing to others, especially the poor and marginalized who have found hope and overcome helplessness.

Since its inception, APPEND has already assisted more than five million poor people with holistic microfinance and transformative education through its own support programs through the five hundred branches of its microfinance NGOs scattered in seventy-one provinces in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

We care for and steward the environment.

APPEND firmly believes that stewarding and caring for the environment is the first mandate of God to mankind and it is our duty to fulfill this mandate because a healthy environment is a pre-requisite to achieving a good quality life. Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General of United Nations affirmed that“ reducing poverty and hunger and improving health and human well-being is difficult to attain without a sustainable environment base.

APPEND together with its partners have been training and raising awareness to prevent and adapt to climate change risks. APPEND will continue to campaign and implement solid waste management and reforestation activities and aims to plant and grow five million trees by 2022.

We transform lives.

APPEND believes that there needs to be spiritual transformation for radical changes to happen in the beliefs, values, attitudes, actions, and relationship structures of the families we are reaching out to. This transformation will translate into improved economic, political and social behavior of individuals, households, communities, and organizations. This improvement, in turn, will pave the way to an abundant life among the poor communities.

APPEND recognizes, however, that transformation is solely the work of God. For someone to be an effective instrument and facilitator of change, that person himself should experience spiritual renewal and transformation. Thus, APPEND upholds the value of developing a lifestyle of faith in and obedience to Christ. APPEND and its partner organizations use the platform of microenterprise development to reach out to poor people so they can hear the Gospel and experience the fullness of life in Christ.
